Soils Information
Soils Information is provided by staff soil scientists located throughout the state. North Carolina participates in the National Cooperative Soil Survey by providing soil scientists in three counties-Buncombe, Guilford, and Wake (Division Directory). These soil scientists map the various soil types on aerial photography to provide valuable information for landowners and landuse planners in the counties.
In addition there are three regional soil scientists located in our offices in Raleigh, Wilmington and Winston-Salem, NC. These soil scientists provide information on soil limitations, wetland delineation, and other soil related questions.
County Soil Surveys are available through the local district office. Copies of the US Fish and Wildlife Service's National Wetland Inventory maps are available through the Technical Service Office in Raleigh.
