Workshops Set for Greenville and Nashville on Tar-Pamlico River Basin

RALEIGH -- Basinwide water quality planning for the Tar-Pamlico River Basin will be reviewed during two workshops scheduled for June 3 and June 4 in Greenville and Nashville.

The workshops are set for:

June 3 in Greenville (8:30 a.m., Auditorium of the Pitt County Agricultural Center); and
June 4 in Nashville (8:30 a.m., Auditorium of the Nash County Agricultural Center).

The workshops are for local government representatives, farmers, developers, environmental groups and citizens interested in water quality of the Tar-Pamlico River Basin.

State officials in the Division of Water Quality said workshop leaders will provide information on basinwide water quality management in the basin, discuss water quality issues and specific water quality management activities, and identify groups or agencies who want to have input to the basinwide planning process.

The workshops are being held in advance of the development of the 5-year update of the Basinwide Water Quality Management Plan prepared for the Tar-Pamlico Basin in 1994.
