N.C. Zookeeper Set “Bowling For Rhinos” Fundraiser
ASHEBORO—Zookeepers from the North Carolina Zoological Park will be
raising funds to help protect rhinos and other endangered animal species
during their 10th annual “Bowling for Rhinos” event on Tuesday, May 3,
at the High Point Bowling Center.
Set for 7 p.m. at the bowling center located on Fairfield Road in
High Point, funds raised through the event help protect rhinos and other
species in three sanctuaries found in Kenya, Java and Sumatra. Four of
the five species of rhinos found in the world today are in danger of
extinction due to poaching for their horns and loss of habitat.
Over its first nine years, N.C. Zookeepers have raised more than
$22,OOO for the rhino conservation program. Anyone interested in bowling
in the event or sponsoring a bowler can contact Paige Wilhoit with the
zoo’s Hanes Veterinary Medical Center at 336-879-7636 or Zookeeper
Hannah Decker at 336-879-7655.
The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and
Natural Resources.
