ASHEBORO-- The North Carolina Zoological Park Council will hold
its regular bimonthly meeting on Wednesday, March 25, at 1 p.m. in the zoo's W. David Stedman Education Center.
Arthur Clark, council chairman, will preside.
The Council is a 15-member board appointed by the Governor to oversee the operation and development of the state zoo.
Among items on the meeting agenda will be a review of the zoo's
veterinary operations and plans for upcoming capital fundraising projects.
During a luncheon prior to the business meeting, two recently
retired council members will be honored with awards. Ernst W. Greup of Durham, a member of the original N.C. Zoological Authority that oversaw the creation of the zoo in the 1970's, will be recognized for more than 30 years of service to the park. James E. Swofford of Wilkesboro, a former council chairman who devoted nearly 20 years of volunteer work to the zoo, will also be recognized.
The zoo is an agency of the N.C. Department of Environment and
Natural Resources.
